We're thrilled to share some exciting updates on our sustainability journey, reinforcing our commitment to crafting great beer while treading lightly on our planet. As you may already know, sustainability has always been at the heart of Stewart Brewing since our inception in 2004. Our founding principles emphasized brewing great beer in a sustainable and efficient manner, and these principles continue to guide us today.

Embracing the Power of the Sun

In our relentless pursuit of sustainability, we've taken a substantial step by harnessing the power of the sun. Our beloved craft brewery has recently invested £180,000 in installing 210 kW of Solar PV across our building roofs and walls. This initiative propels us closer to achieving Net Zero, ensuring our operations are powered by clean, renewable energy.

Scotland's abundant sunshine, especially during the summer, gives us remarkable solar potential. Our solar panels are anticipated to generate over 165,000 kWh per year, meeting a significant portion—around 65% to 70%—of our total electricity requirements. That's the equivalent power needed to produce nearly 2 million pints of our beloved brews—truly a testament to the impact of sustainable choices.

Leading the Way in Carbon Capture

At Stewart Brewing, we're proud to be among the trailblazers in the UK craft brewing scene by implementing CO2 capture technology. Earlier this year, we commissioned two Dalum Beverage Equipment units, making us one of the very first craft breweries in the UK to adopt this innovative approach.

These units seamlessly integrate into our brewing process, capturing CO2 released during fermentation. The captured CO2 undergoes meticulous filtration, dehydration, and liquefaction, ensuring it meets the highest standards of purity. Not only does this initiative significantly reduce our CO2 emissions and reliance on external sources, but it also exemplifies our commitment to responsible brewing.
