Quintuple win at World Beer Awards 2017
There is a lot of excitement in the brewery this morning as we've found out the results of this year's World Beer Awards. Stewart's have come away with five medals, across a variety of styles.
Radical Road was crowned World's Best Bitter over 5.0% in the Pale Beers category, as well as the overall UK winner! We're immensely proud of the recognition that Radical Road has received over the years. We truly love this beer and believe that it's one of our best (but it's great to know that we're not the only ones!).
First World Problems, our Belgian IPA, is another one of our beers that has received some attention in recent months. Walking away with a UK Gold in the Belgium Style Ale category is a great achievement.
Next, a frequent winner at the World Beer Awards, Hollyrood won a UK Silver in the Pale Ale category.
Finally, Elysium I achieved a UK Silver in the Wood Aged category. Elysium I is part of our barrel aged series, in which each of the three beers in the series were aged for nine months with bourbon, Speyside single malt and sherry cask single malt, respectively.
We have limited numbers of Elysium I available in our Brewery Shop and at the Dockside Tap, so be quick if you'd like to get some.
The World Beer Awards are global awards which recognise the very best beers in a number of internationally recognised styles. This year, over 1,900 beers were put forward for judging from more than 36 countries, which were blind tasted and scored over two rounds. The beers were narrowed down to each individual country's overall winner, as well as awarding a gold, silver and bronze medal. Each overall country winner of every style category is then judged again to decide the winner of World's Best Style.
These world winners then go through a final round of judging to find out the overall World Best in eight categories, with winners announced on 21st September. We'll be keeping our fingers crossed that Radical Road will come out on top of the Pale Beers category, so we will keep you posted once we hear.
